Introduction
Essentially, tags link together various platform functions together and are essential to how the platform, authentication and portals function. Tags are a requirement to most features in the platform. This page will aim to outline how to create tags and tag types, and the different functions they provide.
Location
Steps | Description |
1 | Log into the platform. |
2 | Click the account menu dropdown located at the top of the page. |
3 | Within the account menu click settings. |
4 | Within the settings page, locate and click Tags. |
Creating a Tag Type
It is possible to create custom tag types to aid in categorising your sites/portals etc. For example, you may want to create a Brand tag that you can apply to portals in order to better filter and group all sites relating to one brand. These tags generally aren't required for the platform to function.
Step | Description |
1 | Navigate to the Tags page using the steps above. |
2 | Click Add Tag Type |
3 | Give your tag type an appropriate name. |
4 | Enter a description so others will know the intention behind the tag. |
5 | Click Save. |
Tag Types
By default, there are three tags types available to choose from when configuring your setup. You can also add custom tags for better filtering and categorisation.
Tag Type | Description |
Site | The most used tag in the platform, site tags are used to link various functions to the hardware located on site. |
Location | Location tags can be used to specify individual locations within a site. For example, certain portals could appear at defined locations. |
Conference | The Conference tag is used to define Conference Tool locations and portals. |
Creating a Tag
Step | Description |
1 | Navigate to the Tags page using the steps above. |
2 | Click Add Tag located at the top of the page. |
3 | A pop-up will show. Select a Tag Type from the dropdown menu. Read below to learn more about Tag Types. |
4 | Give your tag an appropriate name within the Name input. For example, site tags may have a naming convention associated with them if working within a large group of venue. |
4a | If a site tag was selected, you'll also be required to enter the timezone of the site and the site's Geolocation. To configure the sites Geolocation, enter the address of the site, or the Area Code, in the Geolocation text input box. Once entered, the site will appear on the dashboard's Location widget using Google Maps open API. |
5 | Click Save. |
Deleting a Tag
You can delete tags if they are no longer required, however, a tag cannot be deleted if it is in use and so you would need to remove the referenced tag from the associated item before you can delete the tag.
Step | Description |
1 | Navigate to the Tags page using the steps above. |
2 | Select the inactive tag that you wish to delete. Tags cannot be deleting if they are in use. |
3 | A pop-up will appear. Click Delete. |
