Introduction

The Assets page gives you a view of all connected network assets. Network assets are the vital devices required for your network to function correctly.

Location

StepDescription
1Log into the platform.
2Select Assets from the left side menu of the Home screen.

Typical Network Assets

AssetDescription
Switch
A network switch connects devices (such as computers, printers, wireless access points) in a network to each other, and allows them to 'talk' by exchanging data packets. Network Monitoring Feature required for Switches to appear in the Asset table.
RouterA router is a packet switching device for networks, which is able to route network packets, based on their addresses, to other networks or devices. Among other things, they are used for Internet access, for coupling networks or for connecting branch offices to a central office via VPN (Virtual Private Network).
Wireless ControllerA wireless LAN controller, or WLAN controller, monitors and manages wireless access points in bulk and allows wireless devices to connect to WLAN, a wireless network architecture. Network Monitoring Feature required for Wireless Controller to appear in the Asset table.
GatewayA gateway is a network node used in telecommunications that connects two networks with different transmission protocols together. Gateways serve as an entry and exit point for a network as all data must pass through or communicate with the gateway prior to being routed.
APAn access point is a device that creates a wireless local area network, or WLAN, usually in an office or large building. An access point connects to a wired router, switch, or hub via an Ethernet cable, and projects a WiFi signal to a designated area. Network Monitoring Feature required for APs to appear in the Asset table.
FirewallIn computing, a firewall is a network security system that monitors and controls incoming and outgoing network traffic based on predetermined security rules. A firewall typically establishes a barrier between a trusted network and an untrusted network, such as the Internet.
OtherOther devices include MikroTik Gateways, Printers and other Wireless enabled devices.
